midsummer, space
Menu at the start: Press space bar to begin, though if you have a very fast or slow machine, you can tweak the settings with the arrow keys.
Music can be toggled with 'M'. (I know it's easy to make sound effects, I keep going on about it, but this time I didn't do any myself...)
Movement with 'tank controls' WASD (shift to strafe). Or mouse (click on ground & move towards the edges of the screen for rotation.)
Click to interact with objects,
You don't need to manage your inventory (at all), if you have it, the right item will be used automagically.
I tried to make it so that you can't really get stuck, but it's not extensively been tested.
It's nicer to keep your light with you, the light-stands are basically just to show off in the current version.
Full walk-through to follow.

POSTJAM BUGFIX: On some PCs/graphics-cards/devices, the ground was missing. This has now been fixed. (Also I removed the -2 and -1 'extra-fidelty' options, as it ruins the beauty of the graphics as intended). This means it should play and look the same as submitted on all PCs (including bugs and issues), no other changes where made!

Love the aesthetic, but the controls and collision are horrible. Really dig the vibe of the game though!!
Thanks! The aesthetics is what I was going for. It was a gamejam-game, so there’s quite a lot of rough edges.
I’m trying to remember why I made the control scheme like that – I think it had something to do with that I wanted the player to be able to use the mouse to both click on objects/inventory and look around. (There are better ways to do that – I just didn’t look back when it was halfway working.)
That's fair. You only have a certain amount of time during a game jam and you have to prioritize and sort of adopt this "good enough" attitude lol
Cool retro feel but unfortunately unplayable for me due to the controls, good luck to more patient people :D
